Pencil & Mortar is a Videography practice operated by me, Sophie May. 

I work with businesses from artists & influencers to farmers & chefs to capture their stories and processes to share with their online audiences.

As a filmmaker with a background in painting and illustration I understand the time, thought and skill that goes into cultivating a creative practice. Through film we can empower you by capturing and sharing your work with the wider world.

As well as Film Making I have worked as an Art Director for over 6 years. During this time I've styled commercials, music videos and short films for clients including Bombay Bicycle Club, Deliciously Ella, The All Blacks, BUPA, Lucky Saint Beer, Buzzfeed and many more. My interest in styling, interior design and architecture has given me a keen eye for aesthetics that shines through in my video work today.
